Scotiabank Loses Bid to Dismiss Age Bias Suit Over Director Job

The Bank of Nova Scotia failed to defeat age discrimination claims by a securities industry veteran who says he was illegally denied a director-level role in its program management organization because he was 61.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York cited the “suspiciousness” of the timing of Scotiabank’s move to end its relationship with the worker in rejecting the bank’s motion to dismiss his claims under the New York State Human Rights Law, the New York City Human Rights Law.
