New York’s top court expressed worries about the broader ramifications of a New York City law letting resident immigrants with green cards or work authorizations vote in city elections.

“I don’t see any cabining principles” that would prevent voting rights from being extended to other groups, including undocumented people, Court of Appeals Associate Judge Caitlin Halligan said Tuesday during oral arguments.
