Santa Clara Hospital Sued Over Data Sharing with Meta, Google

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center shared the sensitive medical information of website visitors with Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. without informing them or obtaining their consent, a proposed federal class action said.

Jane Doe alleged that the medical center, which is operated by Santa Clara County, embedded Facebook’s and Google’s tracking and marketing tools on its website, allowing the tech giants to collect visitors’ protected health information in violation of their reasonable expectation of privacy, their rights as patients, and their rights as citizens of California.
