Santa Clara County Sees $2.4 Million Settlement Finally Approved

A $2.4 million settlement between California’s Santa Clara County and a proposed class of individuals who were detained but not prosecuted received final approval after a federal judge called it fair.

Dylan Camarlinghi sued the county last year, alleging it violated his rights and those of other detainees by not releasing them in a timely manner after the district attorney declined to prosecute them. The parties reached an early settlement prior to class certification, court documents show.
