Sanofi Taxotere Eye Injury Lawsuits Sent to Louisiana Courtroom

Federal lawsuits alleging Sanofi Aventis US LLC didn’t adequately warn that Taxotere could cause permanent eye injuries will be combined before a Louisiana judge overseeing another proceeding over the breast cancer drug, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said Tuesday.

Plaintiffs allege that Sanofi didn’t adequately warn doctors that Taxotere could cause permanent excessive tearing because of tear duct blockage. A better warning would have allowed treatment that could prevent the injury, they said.

The suits share common legal and factual issues, the panel said, and combining them into one proceeding will improve litigation efficiency and prevent inconsistent rulings. ...
