A pair of San Francisco gang members failed to convince a federal appeals court to overturn their murder racketeering convictions stemming from a 2019 shootout that left one person dead and four bystanders injured.
In a divided decision, a three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled the district court correctly decided not to divide up the trials of Robert Manning and Jamare Coats. The appeals court also rejected their argument that the prosecution improperly struck a juror during the selection process because she was Black.
