San Diego State Gets Initial Deal Approved in Gender Bias Suit

San Diego State University and a group of female former student athletes gained preliminary approval of a $1.6 million settlement to end the athletes’ claims they faced gender bias over their financial aid offers.

The proposed class action settlement, which includes $1.3 million the school must pay in attorneys’ fees, is “fair, reasonable, and adequate,” Judge Todd W. Robinson of the US District Court for the Southern District of California said in his Wednesday order.
