Samsung, Sony, LG, Chinese Companies Sued in Texas Privacy Cases

Five technology companies—Sony Corp. of America, Samsung Electronics America, LG Electronics USA, Hisense USA Corp. and TCL Technology Group North America Inc.—are unlawfully recording what TV viewers watch without their consent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) says in new anti-privacy lawsuits.

The companies, two of which are subsidiaries of China-based companies, sell the information they unlawfully gathered to target ads at a profit, violating the privacy of nearly 20 million Texan household members, the state says.
