Samsung Electronics America Inc. failed to protect the private information of thousands of people whose information was stolen in an August cyberattack, a proposed federal class action alleges.
Plaintiff Shelby Harmer and other affected consumers weren’t notified until nearly a month later, according to the complaint filed at the US District Court for Nevada on Sept. 6. Personal information stolen in the cyberattack included names, contact and demographic information, date of birth, and product-registration information, it said.
