Samsung Beats Second Mass Arbitration Bid Over Biometric Claims

Samsung Electronics America Inc. won a repeat victory in its effort to fend off mass arbitration of claims that it illegally collected the biometric information of consumers through its smart phones and other devices.

Around 800 consumers with claims against Samsung under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act were prematurely attempting to force Samsung back into arbitration after the American Arbitration Association had terminated the proceedings early on, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit said Wednesday.
