Same-Sex Marriage Allegedly Cost Catholic School Worker Her Job

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis Inc. and one of its schools are accused in a new lawsuit of discriminating against a long-time student guidance counselor because she is gay and married.

Lynn Starkey says Roncalli High School failed to renew her contract after she spoke up about the school’s and archdiocese’s positions on same-sex marriage. Starkey, a co-director of student guidance at Roncalli, asked during a meeting with a specialist on canon law why same-sex marriage was such a hot button issue compared to other perceived “sins.”
