Samba TV Stuck With Consumer Suit Over Viewing-Data Disclosure

Samba TV Inc. must face several claims of a proposed class action alleging it collected and sold consumers television-viewing information to third party advertisers in violation of state and federal privacy laws.

The plaintiffs alleged concrete injuries sufficient for standing to sue in federal court and adequately pleaded claims of invasion of privacy, intrusion upon seclusion, unjust enrichment, and violations of the California Invasion of Privacy Act and the Federal Wiretap Act, Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Tuesday.
