Salvation Army Sued Over Breach of Employee, Volunteer Data

The Salvation Army National Corp. negligently failed to protect the personal information of hundreds of thousands of employees and volunteers that was disclosed in a data breach, a proposed federal class action said.

Lead plaintiff Michael Roach alleged that the Salvation Army breached its duties under the Federal Trade Commission Act, as well as under common law, contract law, and industry standards to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures and provide timely notice of the breach.
