Rust-Oleum Fails to Ditch Krud Kutter Cleaner False Ad Suit

Rust-Oleum Corp. must keep defending claims in a would-be class “greenwashing” suit over Krud Kutter cleaners, following a California federal court’s ruling that reasonable consumers could be misled by labels touting the products as “nontoxic” and “earth friendly.”

Anthony Bush, who bought Tough Task Remover and Krud Kutter Original Cleaner and Degreaser, also has standing to challenge the labels of 13 other Krud Kutter products because they have substantially similar labeling, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday.
