Roblox Sued Over No-Refund Policy for Minors’ Purchases (1)

Roblox Corp.'s policy of not refunding purchases made on its online gaming platform fails to give minors their legal right to rescind contracts, a new proposed class action in a California federal court says.

Roblox games are ostensibly free to play. However, the platform “encourages impressionable minors to make in-game purchases,” according to the lawsuit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Within the Roblox universe, users create avatars that they can personalize with clothing, gear, or animations. Many of the most desirable gaming items and characters are obtained with virtual currency called “Robux,” ...
