Rivian Facing Patent Infringement Suit Over Wireless Technology

Rivian Automotive Inc. was hit with a patent infringement suit by Fleet Connect Solutions LLC over its wireless communications technology.

The complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas alleges that the computing devices Rivian uses that perform wireless communications infringe several of Fleet’s patents.

The complaint alleges Rivian is infringing Fleet’s patents for:

• A system and method for tracking vehicle maintenance information
• Intelligent trip status notification
• Optimum phase error metric for orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) pilot tone tracking in wireless LAN
• OFDM pilot tone tracking for wireless LAN
