Rite Aid Settles Claims of Dispensing Unlawful Addictive Opioids

Rite Aid Corp. and 10 subsidiaries and affiliates will pay $7.5 million and allow a claim of $401.8 million in Rite Aid’s bankruptcy case to settle allegations under the False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

During the relevant time period, Rite Aid operated one of the country’s largest retail pharmacy chains with over 2,200 retail pharmacies in 17 states.
