Rite Aid $6.8 Million Data Breach Settlement Gets Final Nod

Rite Aid Corp’s $6.8 million deal to settle a proposed class action that followed the 2024 notice of an earlier data breach received final approval from a federal judge.

The settlement administrator received 69,451 claims, a small percentage of which was for documented losses, according to Judge Harvey Bartle III of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The pro rata payment for most class members will be approximately $38.28, but California residents in the 2.2 million person class will recover about twice that amount due to the availability of statutory damages.
