Digital marketing company Rise Interactive Media & Analytics LLC failed to shake off negligence claims in a proposed consumer class action over a data breach that exposed personal identifying information, a federal trial court ruled.
Lead plaintiffs Tiffany Roper and Heidi Emmerling are customers of a medical supply company that sent shared their personal information with Rise, which suffered a data breach on Nov. 14, 2022.
Following the breach, someone attempted to open a bank account in Emmerling’s name, and Roper’s insurer informed her that someone tried to use her health insurance to fill a prescription.
