New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) can’t immediately allow the Trump administration to open an immigration office at the city prison on Rikers Island, the state trial-level court announced Monday.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments on Adams’ proposal to turn over the prison to federal immigration officials, which the New York City Council alleges is part of a quid pro quo agreement in exchange for the US Justice Department dropping corruption charges against him.
