Thomson Reuters Inc. faces defamation claims in a lawsuit from a Texas petroleum product company over reporting that it played a key role in a fuel smuggling scheme by Mexican cartels.
The news agency declined to obtain publicly available records that would’ve cast doubt on its reporting that Ikon Midstream participated in the tax-evasion enterprise by lying in a declaration about the product it was shipping, the company said in the lawsuit.
