Fast-fashion retailer Fashion Nova Inc. ripped off a Los Angeles denim label that it once partnered with by producing and selling “counterfeit exact replicas,” the label, Vibrant M.I.U., alleged in California state court.
Huge USA Inc., which does business as Vibrant M.I.U., was the source of Fashion Nova’s best-selling jeans for almost a decade. But the retailer then began selling knockoffs that incorporated Vibrant’s “style numbers,” which were originally used to help customers distinguish which jeans were Vibrant’s, the complaint filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges.
