Religious School Denied Exemption in Trans Discrimination Suit

A transgender former Liberty University employee can continue to allege that the school unlawfully terminated her, but the school has permission to immediately appeal that decision, a Virginia federal district court said.

None of Liberty’s proposed defenses to Ellenor Zinski’s claim of sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act “are supported by the law on the facts thus far presented,” said Judge Norman K. Moon of the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia in a Thursday opinion.
