The Washington state attorney general defeated a lawsuit by a Christian nonprofit organization challenging the feared enforcement of state LGBTQ bias law against it.
The ruling by the US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington turned on an issue that arises when a party brings what’s known as a pre-enforcement challenge to the application of a law: whether the party faces a credible threat of enforcement.
Union Gospel Mission of Yakima, which provides services supporting the homeless, failed to show a sufficient threat in its suit against the AG’s office and various state officials, the court said.
