Reddit Inc.‘s allegations that Anthropic PBC illegally scraped the discussion platform’s content to train its AI chatbot belong in California state court, a federal judge said.
Each of Reddit’s claims arise from alleged violations of “contractual restrictions on the method and purpose of access, technical trespass and server impairment, interference with privacy covenants owed to users, and affirmative misrepresentations made by Anthropic,” the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday. The case will go back to San Francisco Superior Court, where Reddit initially filed.
