Reddit Fails to Defeat Privacy Suit Over LiveRamp Tracker Use

Reddit failed to convince a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit alleging its use of LiveRamp Inc.‘s online tracker violated California’s regulations requiring permission or a court order to use a pen register.

The social media network told the US District Court for the Southern District of California that LiveRamp’s technology doesn’t capture outgoing dialing or addressing information, and thus doesn’t count as a pen register. It also said California didn’t intend to cover use of LiveRamp’s tracker under its Invasion of Privacy Act.
