Reddit Agrees to Pay California Workers $525,000 Settlement

Reddit Inc. agreed to pay a $525,000 settlement to employees who alleged the social media site underpaid them, according to a motion for preliminary approval filed in California state court.

About 120 workers employed at Reddit between December 2018 and March 2024 will each receive about $2,100 after deductions, according to the Monday San Francisco County Superior Court filing.

Lead plaintiff Maya Amerson alleged in her second amended class complaint that Reddit misclassified workers as exempt when they were non-exempt, so they weren’t compensated for overtime work and missed breaks, or given accurate wage statements, among other pay violations.
