Recusal Sparks New Judge Assignment in Musk’s X Watchdog Suit

A federal judge in Texas has recused himself from presiding over a lawsuit filed by Elon Musk’s X Corp., formally known as Twitter, against the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, spurring its reassignment to another judge on the bench.

It’s not immediately clear why US District Judge Matt Pittman of the Northern District of Texas federal court stepped away from the case. He gave no reason for the recusal in the Tuesday court filing, and judges aren’t required to say why they’re doing so.
