Raskin, Waters Press DOJ on Litigation Transferred From CFPB

Top House Democrats are demanding to know whether the Justice Department plans to pursue litigation transferred over from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau while the Trump administration moves to defang the consumer finance watchdog.

In a Thursday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi obtained by Bloomberg Law, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) asked if the maneuver is a way to hasten the CFPB’s closing even while a temporary injunction blocking acting Director Russell Vought from shuttering the agency remains in place.
