Former executives of Cognizant Technologies Solutions facing federal bribery charges in New Jersey were in court on Tuesday trying to show that the government effectively outsourced its investigation to their erstwhile employer.
The global technology company’s former president, Gordon Coburn, and its former chief legal officer, Steven Schwartz, were indicted after Cognizant disclosed that it believed they were behind a $2 million bribe to government officials in India to facilitate construction of an office park in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
