A libertarian radio host from New Hampshire lost his appellate bid to undo convictions for conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business, operation of an unlicensed money transmitting business, money laundering, and tax evasion.
Ian Freeman relied in part on the “major questions” doctrine to challenge his convictions, arguing that it requires the court to read the applicable laws as not allowing agencies to regulate virtual currencies. The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit was unpersuaded Tuesday.
