The Prudential Insurance Company of America reached a settlement in principle to end a lawsuit brought by the siblings of a former Akin Gump LLP associate who are seeking the proceeds of her life insurance policy, a lawyer for the siblings said.
Julia Ghahramani’s younger sister and brother were denied an accidental death claim on her life insurance policy after she died in 2021 from taking fentanyl-laced cocaine. Her siblings said in the complaint that her death was an accident “caused solely by the involuntary exposure to a fatal amount of fentanyl.”
