Prospect Medical Patients Drop Lawsuit Over 2023 Data Breach

Eleven patients voluntarily dismissed their proposed class action alleging Prospect Medical Holdings Inc. negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 190,000 people that was exposed in a 2023 data breach.

Judge Wendy Beetlestone of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued an order dismissing the lawsuit Tuesday, around three weeks after the plaintiffs filed a stipulation of dismissal with the court. Beetlestone had previously denied the hospital operator’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit in August 2024.
