ProSmile to Pay $440,000 to Settle Lawsuit Over 2022 Data Breach

ProSmile Holdings LLC agreed to pay $440,000 to settle a class action alleging the dental services provider failed to protect the personal information of more than 39,000 people that was exposed in a 2022 data breach, according to a proposed agreement filed in federal court.

Under the deal filed Sept. 12 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, all class members would be eligible for reimbursement of up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket costs related to the breach, and class members whose Social Security numbers were exposed would be eligible for a claim of up to ...
