Proskauer Rose LLP and a former client agreed to settle a $636 million malpractice suit before a Massachusetts state judge on Friday, dismissing the case with prejudice.
Justice Kenneth W. Salinger in May told Proskauer that it needed to stand trial in Suffolk County Superior Court against plaintiff Robert Adelman’s claims that the firm negligently drafted legal documents while negotiating venBio Partners LLC’s hedge fund spin-off, costing Adelman his ownership interest.
The case was slated to go to trial next year, but the parties were in mediation to negotiate a settlement last month.
