Federal prosecutors urged a federal court in Maryland not to release lawyer Tom Goldstein from custody pending trial, saying his recent emergency motion to revoke the court’s detention order “raises more questions than answers.”
The government’s opposition, filed late Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland, argues that Goldstein remains a flight risk and “financial danger to the community.”
Goldstein was arrested and ordered detained Feb. 10 after initially being released on bond. Prosecutors said he violated the terms of his release by “failing to disclose his interest in and transactions using undisclosed cryptocurrency accounts.”
