Proposed Class Action Over Dr. Squatch Shampoo Can Proceed

A class action lawsuit alleging Dr. Squatch LLC misleadingly advertises its men’s shampoo as “natural” can proceed, a federal court said.

Lauren Fleming’s claims of consumer fraud and unjust enrichment survived Dr. Squatch’s motion to dismiss in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Thursday.

Fleming says she bought Dr. Squatch’s men’s shampoo in 2021, as she “seek[s] to purchase natural products and tries to avoid non-natural ingredients.”

In Fleming’s 2022 proposed class action complaint, she alleges the shampoo is deceptively labeled as natural when it actually contains many synthetic ingredients. Fleming also argues that the front ...
