Progressive Leasing must face some claims of a proposed class action alleging the lease-to-own lender negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 193,000 people that was exposed in a September 2023 data breach.
The plaintiffs showed they suffered concrete injuries sufficient for standing to sue in federal court, and adequately pleaded claims of negligence and violations of the California Consumer Privacy Act, Judge David Barlow of the US District Court for the District of Utah said Thursday.
