Procter & Gamble Sued Over Trackers on Ivory Product Website

The Procter & Gamble Co. was hit with a proposed class action accusing the consumer goods giant of violating California privacy laws by surreptitiously installing tracking software on the website for its Ivory product line.

California resident Monica Dawkins filed the complaint Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California, alleging P&G deployed various third-party trackers on the www.ivory.com site without user consent or court authorization. These trackers—operated by companies like Google, Facebook, and Tapad—allegedly function as pen registers and trap and trace devices, capturing users’ IP addresses, browsing histories, and other personal data.
