Procter & Gamble Sued Over Safety of Crest Charcoal Toothpaste

Procter & Gamble Co. joins other companies sued over charcoal toothpaste, with a new class complaint in an Ohio federal court alleging it deceptively promotes some Crest products as safe whiteners when they harm teeth and gums.

“Opportunistic marketers, celebrities and social media influencers” tout a variety of activated charcoal products for wellbeing and health benefits, and consumers who have believed them have been willing to pay a premium, Erica Parks and Daniel T. Durgin say in a suit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
