Private Social Club in NYC Sued for Disability Discrimination

A New York City private member’s club was sued Friday by its former “Chief Membership Officer” for disability discrimination.

Noelle Crooks sued Maxwell Social Club Tribeca, Inc., and its founders for allegedly operating a “toxic boys club.” The complaint, which also alleged retaliation and wage violations, was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Crooks, who also sued founders David Litwak and Kyle Chaning-Pearce, said that she was misclassified as exempt and forced to work 60-80 hour weeks without overtime pay. She also claimed that when she requested accommodations for her autoimmune disease, defendants ...
