Pregnancy Center Loses Row Against N.Y. Reproductive Rights Law

An anti-abortion pregnancy counseling center lost its challenge to a New York law prohibiting employers from discriminating against employees based on their reproductive health choices, as the law applies to all employers and doesn’t specifically target religion, a federal court said.

The law could just as easily be enforced against employers that require employees to use birth control as it could against employers that would fire an employee for ending a pregnancy based on their religious-based beliefs, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York said.
