PPG Industries Inc.'s agreement with workers to pay up to $800,000 to resolve wage claims after its Kronos timekeeping software was attacked by ransomware received preliminary approval.
The paint company’s workers said they were underpaid as the third-party software was down. The settlement in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania recognizes three classes—in Alabama, California, and Indiana—as well as a collective that excludes class members.
The agreement for the classes and the collective are sufficiently reasonable, Magistrate Judge Maureen P. Kelly said Jan. 17.
