Powerschool’s $17.3 Million Student-Data Settlement Approved

A plaintiff suing Powerschool Holdings LLC and the Chicago board of education convinced a federal court to preliminarily approve a $17.3 million settlement resolving allegations they illegally collected and disclosed students’ personal information.

The estimated more than 10 million students who logged onto Powerschool’s college, career, and life readiness platform Naviance between August 2021 and January 2026 and who file an approved claim will be eligible for a pro rata cash payment under the settlement, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
