Polymarket on Wednesday sued Michigan officials to prevent what it deems an “immediate and concrete” threat of enforcement action, one day after the state’s attorney general sued fellow prediction market platform Kalshi.
The lawsuit against Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) and officials from the Michigan Gaming Control Board said state officials don’t have the power to go after Polymarket for running an unlicensed gambling platform. Instead, regulatory powers belong to the federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the lawsuit filed in US District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
