A blood plasma donation center is a public accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and its Illinois analog, a federal court in the state said Tuesday.
The decision by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois means a lawsuit accusing CSL Plasma Inc. and CSL Behring LLC of violating the anti-discrimination laws can move forward. The state alleges the companies refused to allow people with mental health disabilities who use service animals and people who are deaf to enter collection centers to donate plasma.
