Pig Farm’s Auditor Ineligible for Overtime Pay, Court Says

An auditor tasked with managing pigs’ safety is exempt from federal overtime provisions because his work is related to agriculture, the Eighth Circuit said Thursday.

David Bills, Cactus Family Farms LLC’s animal care auditor, assessed the process of loading pigs into trucks and was responsible for ensuring biosecurity and safety protocols were followed. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit said his status as an agricultural worker exempted him from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, affirming the lower court’s finding.
