Pickleball Players Get First Nod for Paddle Deception Suit Deal

A settlement resolving consumers’ claims that game equipment company Sport Squad Inc. misled buyers by labeling its pickleball paddles as approved by the sport’s national governing body when they weren’t won an initial nod from a magistrate judge.

Judge Panayotta Augustin-Birch of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida recommended granting the consumers’ motion for preliminary approval of the deal Monday.

The proposed settlement will give customers a $300 refund with proof of purchase, or a $150 voucher without proof of purchase. The class includes everyone in the US who have a contested paddle, the Gen 3 ...
