Photographer Appeals Kat Von D Tattoo Rulings to Ninth Circuit

The photographer who sued celebrity artist Kat Von D over her tattoo of jazz legend Miles Davis asked the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to review a jury’s ruling that the tattoo isn’t substantially similar to the original Davis portrait.

Jeffrey Sedlik’s notice of appeal filed Wednesday also asks justices to reconsider a ruling by Judge Dale S. Fischer of the US District Court for the Central District of California that said the “clear weight of evidence” prevents her from overturning the jury verdict.
