The City of Philadelphia says the Trump administration unlawfully removed materials discussing slavery at the President’s House, a site designated as a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom site, and where presidents lived and worked in the 1790s.
The removal of artwork and informational displays explaining the lives of enslaved people at the site violated the Administrative Procedure Act because Trump officials didn’t provide any explanation, let alone a reasoned one, for this “abrupt” change, Philadelphia told the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in a Thursday complaint.
